Recliner Hosts 2025 Showcase Screening

On 2 December, Recliner proudly hosted a special showcase screening, bringing together filmmakers, collaborators, friends, and supporters to celebrate three distinctive short films developed across our creative community. Held in an intimate cinema setting, the night marked an important milestone in Recliner’s mission to champion emerging voices and foster a space where bold storytelling can thrive.

Every Second Weekend Directed by Cooper Dalbo

A tender and beautifully restrained drama following a father and son as they navigate a pivotal and private moment in their relationship. The film captures the quiet emotional beats that define family, offering a heartfelt snapshot of two people trying to understand one another.

Welcome to the Cyber Rodeo Directed by Jim Muntisov

A vibrant, genre-bending exploration of non-binary identity, told through the surreal lens of a cyber-cowboy who rides the bull. The film blends humour, intimacy, and futurism to create a unique perspective on belonging and self-expression.

Adult Male Blond Directed by Harry Quinlan

A stylised comedy-thriller following Kira, who is picked up by a man she’s never met before. Their unpredictable journey unfolds with sharp dialogue, escalating tension, and a playful nod to 90s indie crime cinema.

The evening brought together cast, crew, and supporters from across Melbourne, reinforcing the collaborative spirit that has shaped each project.

“Recliner’s goal has always been to bring a community together to create something we can all be proud of. Putting on this event felt like we’re one step closer to achieving that,” – Executive Producer, Lawrence Phelan

We extend our sincere thanks to Eclipse Cinema for their generous support and to Lydia Phelan for capturing the night.
