Michael Lincoln wins Golden Tripod for Best Cinematography at 2025 ACS Awards

Cinematographer Michael Lincoln has won the Golden Tripod for Best Cinematography at the 2025 Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) National Awards for his work on You Should Run, a music video by Missy Higgins, produced by Recliner.

Held at Melbourne’s historic Forum Theatre on Saturday 3 May, the awards brought together some of the country’s most celebrated cinematographic talent. The night was hosted by legendary broadcaster Ray Martin AM, with special guest Lawrence Sher ASC (Joker, The Hangover), and presented by the ACS Victoria Branch with support from Creamsource.

Lincoln’s cinematography on You Should Run was recognised for its emotional power, visual clarity and poetic restraint, enhancing the music’s tone with a striking and elegant visual language.

The video was directed by Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore, with Robot Face contributing their remote arm rig to execute precision camera movement. Michael Hales led the lighting team as gaffer, and Dan Edwards delivered a refined and expressive grade in post. The contribution of each collaborator played a crucial role in shaping the final look and feel of the piece.

In accepting the award, Lincoln said: “Firstly, I feel so privileged to have the word cinematographer next to my name on the call sheet. I hope to never take that for granted. Everything we do has the chance to grow our industry and push us all forwards together. I can’t wait to see what comes next because I know it’s going to be wonderful.”

The award marks a major milestone for Lincoln and for Recliner, whose work continues to explore emotionally resonant, visually driven storytelling across music videos, narrative and branded content.
